introduction

The Hyper Island recruitment process required all applicants to provide a digital portfolio on CD. I already had a portfolio but took the opportunity to experiment and find an innovative and engaging way to connect the CD and its case to the digital work.

my role

For this project my role included art direction, web design, print design, flash development, copywriting and craft work. It was great.

annotations: on / off

unfold reveal

A bit of head scratching, a scalpel and a ruler and plenty of card was needed to make the CD case show a new project with each fold.

digital meet real

The essence of the project was to create a single object that worked as an interactive experience in both its digital and real forms.

spin me right round

Rotational navigation was used to reflect how you would turn an actual piece of paper to make the text read left to right. The CD made a handy center too.

pixel perfect

The screenshots were shown at resolution in order to show the precision and detail within the work.

credits

Thanks to my friends for pushing me to apply, my family for supporting me and my coworkers for seeming genuinely sad to see me go.

feedback

"I love it, but I'm a bit worried that you're never going to make anything better."
